Andaman & Nicobar Islands – Day 3

Day 3: Neil Island, Corals, Sea Shores, Laxmanpur Beach, (Change of Island) To Havelock Island

It was a lovely morning at Neil Island, as we woke up to another bright day on this very small island in Bay of Bengal.

By the time we reached our accommodation last night (Day 2), it was too dark for us to comprehend what kind of vistas and charm this place had to offer.

From our previous night stroll across the property, among the few lanterns and dim moonlight, all we could gather was for this to be a pretty, little resort with nicely done tent cottages, connected with stone pavements, leading up to a private beach, more like a rocky shore (going by the noise of waves breaking onto what we could only imagine were medium to big rocks).

After a very relaxing snooze in the cozy cottages, we stepped out for a refreshing morning stroll around the property hoping to enjoy some quality time at the private beach.

First thing we noticed as we stepped out of our tents was that the exteriors of these cottages did not at all justify the comfort and amenities they had to offer on the interior. Unlike the name or these rugged exteriors would suggest, these “tent cottages” were a taste of pure comfort and luxury on that secluded island.

The whole place was pretty well maintained and had a lot to offer with a very peculiar primeval flora, indigenous fauna, uncharted corals dispersed around the property and cute little pavements leading up to a private beach.

And the private beach on this property was a huge revelation in itself! To be honest, we had never seen such a distinctive shore/beach ever in our lives. It did not have the typical white sand or big black rocks. Instead, the whole beach was lined with variety of corals and a very peculiar flora that gave this place an astounding character.

The stem of the trees branched out as they made their way into the sand, giving an illusion of really sturdy roots floating on top of the land leaving you confused and awestruck all at the same time. I am still not sure if they were aerial roots, or actual shoots branching out and making their way back into the sand to propagate and form bigger colonies. Nevertheless, the sight was divine and the beach one of its kind! We spent a few minutes soaking in this mesmerizing view before we headed for breakfast.

Post a hearty breakfast we headed to Laxmanpur beach for a fun filled morning in the cool blue waters. This beach was pretty special and super fun. The water here was quite shallow until few metres into the sea, giving you an illusion of being surrounded by the big blue sea while still standing firmly on your feet. True to the spirit of an island vacation, this was by far the most refreshing morning on a beach! We spent good few hours playing in the cool blue waters before we headed back to our resort. Back in the resort we relaxed a bit, lazing around in our hammocks, chatting away, feeling elated and grateful for this wonderful vacation.

Post a quick relaxing siesta, we headed to our next destination.

Back to the port, back in Makruz we swiftly sailed our way to Havelock Island, where we would be spending the next 2 nights.

Silky white beaches, refreshing turquoise water and amazing diving sites. This is what makes Havelock the most visited island in Andaman.

Next day in Havelock was all about exploring these pristine beaches, swimming in the cool, serene waters and experiencing the most coveted – our first (scuba) dive ever!

With utmost excitement for the next morning, we settled into our cottage house in Havelock. Every resort throughout the trip was a level up than the previous one. And this one for sure was multiple levels up than the one at Neil.

As we headed for dinner, we took a quick stroll through the property and quickly realised how wonderfully luxurious the next 2 days are going to be.

Super thrilled to explore Havelock the next day, we came back to our cottage and without any effort dozed off into a restful snooze under the warm comforters.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day..!! Our first scuba dive ever..!! I can’t wait to take you through that dive into the deep ocean.. but, for that you will have to wait another night…

Until then… Lights out..!!
